Dan Smith opens Balanced Books on Commercial Street.
Forty-three years of one accountant in one office
Balanced Books Accounting Services has been on Commercial Street in Middleton since May 1982. Founded and still run by Dan Smith, the practice does personal and corporate income tax, bookkeeping, payroll and HST work for sole proprietors and small corporations across the Annapolis Valley.
Forty-three years means we've seen just about every situation a small business or family can put in front of an accountant. CRA letters that don't make sense. A pile of receipts in a shoebox. Three years of returns that never got filed. The complicated rental situation. The estate question. We've done all of it.
"I won't let you leave with unanswered questions."
— Dan Smith, on his Facebook page
The office is open twelve months a year, not just tax season. CRA correspondence happens whenever it happens, and you shouldn't have to wait until next March to get an answer.
Dan Smith, President
Dan opened the doors of Balanced Books on 28 May 1982. Forty-three years later, he's still the one who answers the phone, files the returns, and signs the cheques.
That kind of consistency is rare. It's also why clients have stuck around for twenty years and counting — they know who they're dealing with, every time.
"I have just about seen it all. Reasonable prices and friendly service. I won't let you leave with unanswered questions."
— Dan Smith, on Facebook
